Lions Manes grain spawn

Growing Lions Mane mushrooms at home can be a rewarding and exciting experience. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to cultivate your own Lions Mane mushrooms using our Grain Spawn:

Materials needed:

- 60g Lions Mane Grain Spawn

- Sterilized growing substrate (such as hardwood sawdust or straw)

- Large pot or pressure cooker for sterilizing the substrate

- Plastic bags or containers with air vents

- Spray bottle with clean water

- Mist cover or plastic wrap

- Temperature and humidity control equipment (optional)

1. Prepare the growing substrate:

- If using hardwood sawdust, soak it in water overnight, then drain and sterilize it in a large pot or pressure cooker for at least 1 hour. Allow it to cool before proceeding.

- If using straw, chop it into small pieces and soak it in water overnight. Drain and sterilize it in a large pot or pressure cooker for at least 1 hour. Allow it to cool before proceeding.

2. In a clean and sterile environment, mix the cooled and sterilized substrate with 5-10% (by weight) Lions Mane Grain Spawn. Ensure that the Grain Spawn is evenly distributed throughout the substrate.

3. Transfer the substrate and Grain Spawn mixture to plastic bags or containers with air vents. Fill them about half full, allowing room for the mushrooms to grow. Seal the bags or containers.

4. Poke small holes in the bags or containers to allow for air circulation. These holes should be large enough for the mushrooms to grow through but not too large to prevent contamination.

5. Mist the substrate inside the bags or containers with clean water until it is evenly moist. Be careful not to over-saturate the substrate.

6. Place the bags or containers in a warm and humid environment. Ideal temperature ranges between 65-75°F (18-24°C), with humidity levels around 85-95%. If necessary, use temperature and humidity control equipment to maintain these conditions.

7. Cover the bags or containers with a mist cover or plastic wrap to create a humid environment. This will help retain moisture and promote mushroom growth.

8. Check the bags or containers daily and mist them with water as needed to maintain proper moisture levels. Avoid spraying directly onto the mushrooms.

9. After a few weeks, small white pin-like structures called primordia will start to form. This is a sign that the Lions Mane mushrooms are developing.

10. Continue to mist the primordia and maintain optimal temperature and humidity conditions. Within 1-2 weeks, the primordia will grow into fully mature Lions Mane mushrooms.

11. Harvest the Lions Mane mushrooms when they are fully developed, with white, furry spines. Cut them close to the substrate using a clean and sharp knife.

12. Enjoy your freshly harvested Lions Mane mushrooms! They can be cooked in a variety of ways, such as sautéing, grilling, or adding to soups and stir-fries.

Note: Growing mushrooms requires attention to cleanliness and sterile techniques to avoid contamination. Ensure that all equipment and surfaces are properly cleaned and sterilized before starting the cultivation process.

Follow these instructions closely, and you'll soon be savoring the delectable taste and health benefits of your own homegrown Lions Mane mushrooms. Happy growing!
